Friday Night Shabbat Services

Shabbat services are held every other Friday evening. Most Fridays the service starts at 7:30 p.m. Once a month we have early services starting at 6:30. Please check our calendar for the dates of the services.

Erev Shabbat services are song-filled, family-friendly, and include readings in English, as well as Hebrew prayers. Often, Rabbi Cella teaches on the weekly Torah portion.

Services are followed by an Oneg Shabbat (“delight of Shabbat”). The Oneg is a festive, informal social gathering, and is a perfect opportunity for us to meet you and for you to get to know our synagogue and our congregants. All are welcome--please join us!

Saturday Morning Shabbat Services

The Jewish Center of the Moriches offers Shabbat morning services twice a month at 9:30, followed by a festive kiddush.  Check our calendar for the next date.

People of all ages are encouraged to join us for this special Shabbat experience.

In particular families with children are invited to participate as this service is child friendly.

Our students assist in the leading of this service, displaying some of what they have learned in Hebrew School.

Shabbat morning services are also a wonderful opportunity for our adult members and guests to be called up to the Torah for the recitation of the Torah blessings.

Our children's service will be at 11 AM on the First Day of Rosh Hashanah on 9/26.  Kids of all ages are invited and they can stay in the sanctuary as well.

Familyhood Greeting

Every year at the start of the High Holidays, the Deborah Familyhood (formerly known as Sisterhood) posts a High Holidays Greetings list in the lobby of the Synagogue.

This list displays the names of anyone who wishes to extend Jewish New Year greetings to the community. Donations in any amount are accepted; all donors are listed on the greeting list. The High Holiday Family Greeting is a fundraiser for the Familyhood. Your support of this annual fundraiser is greatly appreciated.

The JCM Familyhood functions as a fundraising organization for the Jewish Center, making a sizeable contribution to the congregational activities.  The Familyhood sponsors most of the Oneg Shabbats that are held after each Friday night service.
