Hebrew School
Our Jewish Learning Program provides children with a warm, engaging, and meaningful introduction to Jewish life. Meeting once each week in a welcoming and supportive environment, students develop Hebrew skills, explore Torah and Jewish traditions, participate in prayer and worship, and discover the values that have sustained the Jewish people for generations. Our goal is not simply to prepare students for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah, but to help them build a lifelong connection to Judaism, the synagogue, and the Jewish community.

Our Approach to Jewish Learning
At the Jewish Center of the Moriches, we believe Jewish education is about much more than preparing for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah. Our goal is to help every child develop a lifelong connection to Judaism by building Jewish knowledge, Hebrew skills, meaningful participation in synagogue life, and an appreciation for our traditions, values, and community.

Our Jewish Learning Program grows with each student. From first learning the Aleph-Bet to leading prayers as a Bar or Bat Mitzvah, each stage builds knowledge, confidence, and a deeper understanding of what it means to live a meaningful Jewish life.
Our curriculum is organized around seven interconnected areas of learning:

Torah
​
Students explore the stories, teachings, and values of the Torah while discovering how Jewish wisdom continues to guide our lives today.
Hebrew
Beginning with the Aleph-Bet and progressing to fluent prayer reading, students develop the Hebrew skills needed for synagogue participation, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, and lifelong Jewish learning.
Prayer & Worship
Students become comfortable participating in synagogue services by learning Jewish prayers, melodies, blessings, and the meaning and structure of the service.
Jewish Living
Students experience the rhythms of Jewish life through Shabbat, holidays, mitzvot, lifecycle traditions, synagogue customs, and Jewish practice at home and in the community.
Israel & Jewish History
Students discover the history of the Jewish people—from the Bible through the modern State of Israel—while developing an understanding of Jewish communities around the world and their shared heritage.
Jewish Values

Through discussions, stories, and acts of kindness, students learn about mitzvot, tzedakah, gemilut chasadim (acts of loving-kindness), tikkun olam (repairing the world), respect, responsibility, and caring for others.

Jewish Community & Identity
​
As students mature, they explore what it means to be Jewish in today's world, preparing not only for Bar or Bat Mitzvah but for a lifetime of learning, community, and Jewish engagement.
Our curriculum reflects the traditions of Conservative Judaism while welcoming questions, encouraging thoughtful discussion, and helping every student build a meaningful and lasting connection to Jewish life.
